Where some might find it lacking is having a comprehensive dust collection feature built in with a clear dust dust shield over the working area, like some DeWalt and Porter Cable 1/2" shank routers I own. This doesn't look refurbished just used and they took a quick inventory and through in what they thought was missing. My favourite router, never a issue,a strong performer, well balanced, feels good in my handsmy thought exactly, mines been upside down in a router table for 2 years in daily use. The hand router’s variable speed dial allows you to set the optimal speed for the routing task and material.

The router runs well, though I haven't actually had a chance to use it yet, while I wait to build my router table. What I find the fixed base configuration useful for is trim functions using follower bits of various types- from setting the rebate for a high frequency driver after boring the original hole with a Forstner bit, or trimming a side or inner route flush using a 1/2" shear trim bit.

I got the VS Milwaukee mainly because of the soft start and theirs is pretty nice compared to the Bosch. Hi all, space I was able to adjust my Bosch 1617 router to fit the Festool lr32 system here are a couple of pictures of how I did it. I understand that there is no perfect tool but I only have 1 shot and need to get the best I can afford. Now if you can not adjust it down as far as need then you unlatch the motor, press in on the stop and lower the motor to the middle stop. The fine-depth adjustment on the fixed base is excellent and easy to use, offering very precise adjustments.

Quote from: Dick Mahany on January 21, 2016, 04:26 PM Has anyone mounted a Bosch 1617 plunge router to the LR32 guide rail mounting plate? Router (1617EVSPK), plunge base (RA1166), fixed base (RA1161), fixed base chip shield, plunge base chip shield, 1/2-inch and 1/4-inch self-releasing collet chucks, comfortable forged 16-mm and 24-mm bit change wrenches, T-handle hex-height adjustment wrench, and rugged carrying case. The things so quiet compared to other routers that I get concerned it’s not getting very high rpm’s . I had this router and sold it because I would fight with it to get the motor in and out of the fixed base. I don't think it would compromise the ability to securely tighten the edge guide attachments too much, so I'm tempted to do it.While building, I realized that the router base needed to be propped up so that it's "level" once the whole thing is assembled. Saw the Bosch 1617 router combo at Lowe's for 219, but it was not the 1617evspk, which comes with a free edge guide/ circle cutter and also lists as 2 hp, may be the same motor, but I want the newer, updated router . My Bosch hasn ’t seen a lot of use in 10 years, but has had two visits to the hospital to have the speed control replaced.
